Irene grew up in the landfill community, where life was a daily struggle. She wasn’t able to pursue college and, at a young age, experienced the harsh reality of scavenging just to survive. Her life became a cycle of survivalβ€”not truly living. Before joining Project Life Subic, she worked until 2018, then resigned to focus on raising her children. Her daily routine revolved around household tasks and caring for her family, often leaving her no time for church. Life became repetitive, and she had unknowingly drifted away from God.
In 2021, Irene’s life took a significant turn when she encountered Project Life Subic. She joined the free sewing training on June 16, 2021, which lasted for more than two months. Upon completing the course, she applied for a job at SBMA (Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, a commercial and industrial zone where many businesses and job opportunities are located). Though she wasn’t accepted as she had hoped, God redirected her to a greater purposeβ€”calling her to serve as a sewing mentor at Project Life Subic, where her purpose and passion truly came to life.
“It wasn’t God’s plan to bring me into SBMA. His will was for me to teach sewing, and in that calling, my relationship with Him deepened even more.” – Irene
Today, Irene proudly serves as a staff member of Project Life Subic. Strengthened by the Lord and His great love, she now faces every trial with confidence and faith.
“Jesus is my Savior, my Great Healer, my Provider. I love Him because He is my Redeemer, the only Almighty, the one true God.” – Irene
